Therefore Project Management Assessment becomes an important stage in the improvement process. It involves an evaluation of the current state of health of the organization .This is done through review of existing processes being adopted , questionnaires and interviews with key personnel .What are the benefits of such an exercise ?

Hi Level or Preliminary assessment
This is essentially a self assessment done with the help of personnel who understand project management and its relation to the organization .They could be persons within the organization or external consultants .
Comprehensive assessment
Based on the Hi Level assessment, one could go for a Comprehensive assessment which will establish the project management maturity at level of the capabilities in the organization
Rigorous assessment
A Rigorous assessment will follow the comprehensive assessment if the organizations seek to verify many of the findings in a formal way .
